About Us

A new home
for performance.

The auditorium at Belsize Theatre
Our Story

From parish church to playhouse.

Belsize Theatre was founded in 2025 to bring year-round professional performance to the heart of Hampstead. We occupy the recently restored interior of St Stephen's Church on Pond Street — a Grade I listed Victorian masterpiece by Samuel Sanders Teulon, reimagined for contemporary audiences.

Our Mission

A platform for new work.

To champion new writing and emerging artists; to programme musicals, concerts and comedy of national significance; to build deep community engagement with Hampstead, Belsize Park and Camden; and to make extraordinary work accessible to every audience.

The Venue

Grade I listed. Fully equipped.

The performance space seats up to 240 in a flexible configuration, with full theatrical lighting, sound and projection installed sympathetically within the Grade I listed interior. Stone arches, original stained glass and oak beams remain at the heart of every performance.
